Nov 10, 2018 BREAKING: Florida midterm races head to machine recounts Florida's secretary of state announced on Saturday that the state's Senate and governor races met the threshold to trigger machine recounts. In the Senate race, Republican Gov. Rick Scott leads Democratic incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson by 12,562 votes among nearly 8.2 million votes cast. Meanwhile, a razor thin margin also separates the race for governor. Democrat Andrew Gillum conceded to Republican Ron DeSantis on election night but, under Florida law, that race will also head to a recount. The Florida commissioner of agriculture race will also be recounted. The results of the machine recounts are due no later than 3 p.m. ET this Thursday.
