Police: Louisiana Movie Theater Gunman Was "Drifter", Planned Escape After Shooting It happened again: chaos and carnage as a gunman opened fire on a packed crowd in a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana, killing two and injuring nine others. Authorities say 20 minutes into the movie, 59-year-old John Houser abruptly stood up spraying the theater with 13 shots before killing himself when police arrived. But amid the tragedy there was heroism, as one of two teachers injured in the shooting managed to pull a fire alarm as her friend shielded her from gunfire.
