36 killed, 147 wounded in massive suicide bombing at Istanbul airport

At least 36 people were killed and 147 wounded in two explosions that rocked Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport late Tuesday, a senior Turkish official confirmed to the Associated Press. Government officials had initially reported 50 people were killed in the attacks, but redacted that estimate early Wednesday morning.

White House dismisses Benghazi panel as 'political fantasizing'

White House spokesman Josh Earnest dismissed the final report from the House Select Committee on Benghazi as "political fantasizing" on the part of Republicans, and charged that the report is a political gift from the House to the Republican National Committee. "It seems at this point that ... after eight different congressional inquiries have now been conducted into this matter, it seems that there is only one remaining question, and it's simply this: Is the RNC going to disclose the in-kind contribution that they received from House Republicans today?" Earnest said.

Editorial: If Libya was Obama's 'worst mistake,' why doesn't he take Benghazi seriously?

Benghazi was an early symptom of the great disaster that President Obama had brought to Libya. The embarrassing and disingenuous cover-up of the attack by his administration was an attempt to hide from from the public, through Election Day, the reality that he had not made the world a safer place. Islamic terrorism was both thriving in its organized form and inspiring sympathizers worldwide, as subsequent events in France, Belgium, California, Orlando, and now Istanbul have amply demonstrated.

Trump vows to scrap TPP, NAFTA, Clinton trade deals

Trump vows to scrap TPP, NAFTA, Clinton trade deals

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump bashed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for promoting a globalist trade policy he said hurts American workers before a small crowd in Western Pennsylvania. Backed up by bales of aluminum, Trump lamented the "betrayal" of the American worker, particularly those hit hard throughout Western Pennsylvania. He spoke specifically of those who spent their lives in the steel mills, which are largely a thing of the past.

Trump spoke before a pile of garbage, and the Internet unleashed

Donald Trump gave a speech about trade and globalism in Monessen, Pa., Tuesday afternoon, but the Twittersphere was focused only on one thing: What was going on with the garbage backdrop?
Did you know?

Today is the second anniversary of the declaration of the Islamic State caliphate - a milestone for residents of Syria, Iraq, Libya, Turkey, and a number of Western nations who have been harmed by terrorists tied to the group.

Trump's big digital disadvantage

Even Donald Trump couldn't build a world-class skyscraper in a week's time. That's the best way to understand the challenges the famous real estate mogul faces as he tries to build a data-driven voter turnout operation that can compete with Hillary Clinton. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee only recently began hiring data experts and coordinating with the Republican National Committee's capable digital team.
Question of the day
Do you think the final report by the House Select Committee on Benghazi will make a difference in this year's election?

Carney: The abortion army continues its offensive in the culture war

Carney: The abortion army continues its offensive in the culture war

The culture war is not yet won, abortion advocates believe, until the conquered natives bow their heads and pledge allegiance. And they aren't seeking peace with their opponents - they're out to cover the streets in blood.
Bill Maher: The Constitution 'sucks'

Bill Maher: The Constitution 'sucks'

On his HBO show, "Real Time," Maher compared the lack of gun control votes in Congress to how the British government reacted to the Brexit vote. "I saw David Cameron today. You know, I'm up at 2:00 in the morning when this all happens. So I watched his whole speech and it's like 'I lost the vote, I graciously leave office.' It's like their system works so beautifully."

This chart explains Trump and working-class woes

This is a chart of how the global population fared over the 20 years from 1988 until just before the financial crisis. On the far left are the poorest of the poor. They're just as poor as they were. But almost everybody else - the poor, the global lower-middle class and global middle class - saw their fates improve dramatically.

Reid: Rubio should be sued for his Senate pay

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Sen. Marco Rubio should be sued for the time he was campaigning for president. "He was never here and the state of Florida was missing a senator the whole time," Reid said when asked for a response to Rubio's decision to run for a second Senate term. Reid said Rubio "should be sued to pay back all the money the federal government paid him when he was off campaigning for president."

Former FBI official criticizes Dems' terror watch list gun ban

A former FBI official criticized a proposal to ban gun sales to individuals named on federal terror watch lists, saying that the lists are too "bloated" to be effective in their current form. "I'm afraid that the terrorist watch lists have been fraught with problems from the very beginning, and particularly, the lack of due process makes it impossible for the public to judge whether these are effective methodologies," Michael German, a former FBI special agent who is now a fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice, said Tuesday afternoon.

Report: Sports icons to be winners for Trump at GOP convention

The Republican National Convention may be the hottest ticket this summer, but for sports fans not political junkies. For months, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump has promised an action-packed four-day event. But on Tuesday, a campaign aide to Trump confirmed to Bloomberg some of the biggest names in sports will attend the July 18-21 event in Cleveland, Ohio.
